Wodonga automation company expands, will add 20 new jobs

Wodonga
company Electrical Design & Construction has earned a $150,000 grant and
several new contracts, prompting an expansion and the need for 20 new workers.

The ABC reports that the company, which specialises in large-scale automation
projects, is building a new $1.2 million manufacturing plant.

“It’s a good
sign for Albury-Wodonga and surrounding areas,” said EDC director Greg
Flower.

“We employ
people from Yarrawonga, Corowa, Mulwala through to all the way down the Murray
where we’re working.”

There are 60
workers currently employed by EDC, and of the 20 new employees, four will be
apprentices.

The grant of
$150,000 from the Victorian government was announced by local MP Ben Tilley
yesterday.

“This investment is a vote of confidence in Wodonga and
regional Victoria as a place to do business,” The Border Mail
reports Tilley as saying, noting that nearby EDC had earlier considered relocating to
neighbouring Albury
.
