WDS wins $50m of resources contracts

WDS Limited has won more than $50 million worth of contracts for its Energy Division, after Santos and Vale extended existing agreements.

Santos has again extended the already decade long contract at its GLNG project, having rolled over its Construction Services Agreement for Appraisal and Pre-Development services.

WDS will be the principal contractor to the GLNG project and carry out field installation of appraisal gathering systems for the connection of coal seam gas wells in the Surat Basin gas fields.

The work will include civil, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation aspects of the management and construction of the field and trunk pipelines as well as CSG well head connections.

WDS' Energy Drilling & Completions division has also been awarded a contract for surface to in-seam directional and vertical drilling for gas drainage and associated services at Vale's Carborough Downs coal mine in the Bowen Basin.

The contract includes works for drill pad preparation, vertical production wells, surface to in-seam wells, wire line logging, and the supply of casing and cementing services over an eight month period.

Its team has already deployed one rig on this contract and expect to deploy a second before the end of the month.

WDS CEO Terry Chapman stated that "these two contracts continue our strong client relationships and delivery performance across the coal seam gas and coal sectors".

It has also received additional contracts for well head lease and gas compression fabrication works for Arrow Energy and QGC, as well as a 12 month extension of its lease to Fluor of its 265 room Fairview Construction camp.
