Water experts gather for Australia’s future

Amidst country-wide water shortages and climate change threats, hundreds of experts in the water industry will gather in Melbourne to discuss Australia’s path to sustainable water management at Ozwater09.

The Ozwater09 conference and exhibition will bring together community and government delegates from 16th to 18th March 2009, representing one of the largest water industry events in the southern hemisphere

Hosted by the Australian Water Association (AWA) in partnership with the Victorian Department of Sustainability and Environment, the event will focus on the theme ‘From Challenges to Solutions’ and will host a slew of important speakers addressing a variety of critical topics affecting our water supply in Australia and will also showcase the latest developments and trends in the sector including some the process industry.

Leading local and international organisations, utilities, environment and resource agencies and groups from Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the United States will be represented in these discussions and also provide international experience and perspectives.

AWA chief executive, Tom Mollenkopf, said Ozwater has “carved a reputation as being not only the leading water event on the Australian calendar, but also as a program that provides the highest quality presentations and speakers, critical opportunities for debate, and a multi-streamed program that is simply second-to-none.”

Mollenkopf also said Ozwater09 presents unique opportunities for the water sector and related industries as AWA is not affiliated with any commercial company, meaning the only agenda will be to discuss the facts.

Several reports will be released to coincide with the conference, which also features plenary sessions, panel debates, facility tours and awards ceremonies.
