As reported in PACE last month, Tesla Motors intends to release a fully autonomous Model X with eight cameras, 12 enhanced ultrasonic sensors and a forward-looking radar. A new video showcases the car’s ability (at present) to navigate an off-highway route.
As can be seen in the video, the current system is overly cautious, hence the car’s sudden stop as it approached two pedestrians safely running on the side of the road.
The company aims to launch the fully autonomous vehicle in 2018, following rigorous testing and mass production of the vehicle in mid-2017.
