Two new LNG plants to create 6,000 jobs

Two new LNG plants will start construction in 2010 in Gladstone, Queensland, creating some 6,000 construction jobs, says the Queensland premier, Anna Bligh.

Bligh has also proposed to buy land for a new 70-kilometre gas pipeline between Callide and Gladstone in Queensland.

“One company alone is investing $1 billion in this region this year as it develops its proposals. [There is] potential for a $40 billion export industry,” Bligh told ABC News.

Bligh said LNG is an important industry for that region.
