Two new desal plants to support Gladstone LNG plants

Bechtel is constructing three LNG plants on Curtis Island island to liquefy and export coal seam gas for customers GLNG and Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG).

To support these projects, Metito will build two new seawater reverse-osmosis (SWRO) desalination plants on the island. The UAE headquartered company will design, fabricate and supervise the equipment installation at the site.

This includes seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination plants and sewage treatment plants for the construction sites.

The specifications were tight and require the plants to meet strict feed water quality and discharge limits.

Metito is also supplying oily-waste treatment systems for GLNG. The company will supply demineralisation systems using reverse osmosis and electrodeionisation for APLNG. The demineralised water will be used in the the acid gas reduction unit and the turbine wash.

Metito had earlier supplied similar equipment for the Darwin LNG project.
