Tour de France winner to speak at Convention 2014

Convention 2014, Australia’s largest ever engineering event will feature
the recently retired Tour de France winner and Siemens ambassador Cadel Evans as
one of the key speakers. To be joined onstage by Siemens Australia CEO Jeff
Connolly, the 2011 Tour de France winner will discuss everything from his
recent retirement and innovations in cycling to the role of technology in
creating a sustainable future.

Evans plans to use his stature as an athlete to create awareness around
important issues such as the environment and sustainability.

Engineers Australia CEO Stephen Durkin said Cadel’s attendance
highlights the fact that Convention 2014 is more than just an engineering event
– it’s an opportunity to hear from some of the world’s most respected thought
leaders on leadership and innovation.

Cadel Evans will also share insights from his own career and how science
and engineering have influenced his sporting life.

According to Mr Durkin, the impact of engineering throughout society is
reflected in the range of speakers at Convention 2014.

Convention 2014 speakers include retired NASA astronauts Colonel Chris Hadfield
and Dr Andy Thomas, former Prime Minister John Howard and former Deputy Prime
Minister Tim Fischer.

Cadel will appear as a guest of Siemens on Friday November 24.

Convention 2014 will take place at the Melbourne Convention and
Exhibition Centre, November 24 – 28.
