Fibre laser companies SPI Lasers is ramping up investment in its business with new facilities, equipment and personnel being implemented to develop the company’s fibre laser technology.
The investment is being made as the company foresees current market conditions increasing the penetration of fibre lasers into material processing applications as the lasers are seen as having lower operational costs whilst offering improved processing, with associated reductions in cycle time and scrap, across a wide range of applications, the company says.
SPI Lasers will appoint two laser industry experts for the company’s US facility. Mark Brodsky is appointed as applications lab manager (US) with Kevin Ham appointed to senior laser applications engineer (US). This coincides with an expansion of the Applications Lab in Santa Clara, US.
The company has also developed its global applications presence by reinforcing its position with a new applications lab in the UK and forging close ties with a number of leading application research centres around the globe, the company said.
SPI Lasers CEO, David Parker, said: “Our applications strategy has enabled us to focus on where we want to be. By making new appointments to our Apps team we have ensured we achieve not only our own internal goals but also those of our existing and future customers”
“Making additional capital spend on expanding our existing lab in the US, a new lab based in the UK, co-located with our R&D facilities, and forging closer ties with internationally renowned organisations enables us to compete on a global scale with the most advanced technology and most influential/ground breaking organisations behind us.”
