Under the theme, From Innovation to Transformation, ABB showcased its latest industrial digital solutions to improve operating efficiencies and empower the digital transformation of its customers across the utilities, industries, transport and infrastructure sectors.
ABB presented its industry-leading portfolio of digital solutions, ABB Ability at its inaugural ABB Customer World – Australia event held at the Melbourne Convention Centre on 15 March 2018.
With over 700 registered for the day, the event saw a unique exhibition of innovative digital and industrial technology all designed with a common goal: to improve efficiencies, lower operating costs and enhance competitive advantage for our customers. Innovations that advance the digital grid of the future and integration of renewable energy, intelligent manufacturing along with software-defined machines to smart sensors, cloud services and smart buildings.
The event saw national and international speakers, including Dr Otto Preiss, CEO ABB Digital who officially launched ABB Ability in Australia and outlined the impact of digitalisation can have on the bottom line and how the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and ABB Ability solutions can drive operational excellence.
The Hon. Lily D’Ambrosio, Victorian Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change addressed the audience as the keynote speaker for the event and spoke about the energy initiatives that the Victorian Government is working on to reach Victoria’s energy targets and the importance of setting Victoria up with clean, reliable and secure energy.
Followed on by our keynote panel who discussed the important topic of “how to achieve 50 percent renewable energy without comprising grid stability” provided a platform for our speakers to share their insights and answer questions surrounding energy in Australia. The panel chaired by ABB local divisional manager, power grids, Roland Vitelli hosted Alistair Parker, executive general manager – regulated energy services, AusNet Services; Chloe Munro an independent energy expert; Tennant Reed, principal national adviser, public policy, Australian Industry Group; Massimo Danieli, global business unit manager, Power Grids Grid Automation, ABB Group. “It was great having all our customers together here today for the launch of ABB Ability. Customers can now use ABB Ability to make the most of their existing assets and capitalise on new opportunities presented by the energy and digital revolutions.” said Tauno Heinola, managing director for ABB Australia.
