Pacific Terminals Coode Island Area C Development
West Melbourne, VIC
SEMF provided a complete EDPM service to Pacific Terminals for a major development of its bulk liquid storage facility at Coode Island, Victoria. The implementation of a Coriolis mass flowmeter system for measuring liquid delivered to road tankers gained the company approved for commercial custody transfer under the requirements of Consumer Affairs Victoria. This approval has been the first of its type in Victoria, with the unit able to reliably measure all liquids within its operating range as specified by the manufacturer.
Extensive effort was required to design the installation and test the flowmeter.
A robust and extensive site-wide communication system was implemented as part of the development. Within the new development, ethernet was used to communicate with PLCs, operator interfaces (HMIs) and control room computers. A fibre optic link was also established between the development site and the Pacific Terminals office, several hundred metres away, via a common-use pipe corridor.
