Schneider Electric launches air circuit-breaker with Masterpact MTZ

Schneider Electric has announced the launch of Masterpact MTZ, the third-generation of high-power, low-voltage air circuit-breakers with certified embedded Class 1 energy metering.

Schneider Electric has been an industry leader in air circuit breakers with over 30 years of innovation with their Masterpact range which includes Masterpact M and NT/NW, which is assembled at Ingleburn in NSW.

Building on its strengths, Masterpact MTZ retains the essential properties such as footprint, power connection, thermal rating and tripping performance to provide switchboard builders the convenience to use on their existing designs. AS/NZS 61439-1 switchboard type test certificates for NT/NW are also allowed.

According to Farokh Ghadially, Vice President Partner Projects & Power Solutions for Schneider Electric Australia, “Customers expect power distribution to be safer, more reliable, efficient, sustainable and securely connected than ever before.

“Masterpact MTZ’s new connectivity, digital capabilities and ability to be seamlessly integrated into our EcoStruxure architecture will deliver significant benefits for end users, specifiers, switchboard manufacturers and contractors requiring high power breakers as part of low-voltage solutions for industrial sites, critical applications and buildings.”

Masterpact MTZ will withstand vibrations of high level according to IEC 60721 (1g @ 2-200Hz) and will be immune to twice the level of radiated disturbance as per IEC 61000-4 standard, which is important in the Data Centre market.

“We are proud that the new Micrologic X trip unit simplifies the configuration of circuit-breakers to only four types, and enhancing convenience is the ability to choose from a list of Digital Module options. The new trip unit is “connectivity ready” and offers NFC and Bluetooth communication for Smartphones” Ghadially said.

“Most importantly, our customers can achieve safe, efficient and easy day-to-day facility management via connectivity to smart phones plus operations and analytic software with embedded Ethernet interface as an option.

“This is great because it gives people quick view, self-diagnosis of protection setting and modification, energy consumption, power quality, phase balance, and health status in real-time on your smartphone. Users can stay connected through the the EcoStruxure edge control software, for instant notifications, remote diagnostics and secure maintenance.”

Customising Masterpact MTZ with digital modules can also be achieved anytime, anywhere. Various advanced function options are available with digital modules for protection, measurement, diagnostics and maintenance. The Masterpact MTZ is scalable at any stage of the life cycle from design and configuration to commissioning and operation upgrades, without power interruption or protection shutdowns.

In addition, from planning to installation, operation, maintenance, optimising and renewal, Masterpact MTZ can be managed through Schneider Electric’s Field Services organisation. This expertise, combined with the native connectivity of Masterpact MTZ and Smart Panels, enables conditions-based maintenance, remote facility management, asset management and improved energy management services, providing significant cost savings in energy and maintenance as well as advanced technical support.
