SCA to upgrade its tissue manufacturing site in Victoria

SCA Hygiene Australasia (SCA HA) will invest $65 million to upgrade its Box Hill tissue manufacturing facility, representing the largest investment in 21 years for the site.

Over the next two years the Box Hill site will be upgraded with equipment including:

  • New and upgraded converting lines incorporating new packaging equipment for the Sorbent and Handee Ultra branded products
  • New converting lines for Napkin products
  • Additional infrastructure to support the above

"This is an exciting time for our Box Hill site and for Victorian manufacturing," said Peter Diplaris, President of SCA Hygiene Australasia.

“These are difficult times for local manufacturers but we are confident that with the right approach we can build a strong and competitive future for our company in Australia. This investment, along with Trans‐Tasman site consolidation, is the key to achieving this.”

SCA HA Box Hill currently employs just over 250 people and manufactures brands including Sorbent, Purex, Handee Ultra, Tork and Deeko‐branded products.
