SA-headquartered SAGE Automation is considering acquisitions in data analytics businesses in the US.
The Australian Financial Review reports that SAGE, which is working on “dozens of secret projects” among its clients, has identified the increased focus on the “internet of things” as an area of opportunity.
The area of data analytics is of particular interest, CEO Adrian Fahey said. The IoT (also referred to by titles including Industry 4.0 and the Industrial Internet) offers big opportunities, said Fahey.
"We are very interested in that area provided it's the right deal," he told The AFR.
The company’s customers include Coca-Cola Amatil, General Motors Holden and several companies in the resources sector.
SAGE employs around 260 in Australia and is 59 per cent owned by Andrew Downs, who started the business in his backyard shed in 1994.
