Rockwell Automation Chairman and CEO Keith D. Nosbusch delivered a
keynote presentation at the Internet of Things World Forum 2014 hosted by Cisco
in Chicago. This annual event brings together leading innovators and early
adopters from business, government and academia to accelerate market adoption
of the Internet of Things (IoT).
In his presentation made on the first day of the conference, Nosbusch explained
how industry was at a major inflection point, driven by the convergence of
information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT), and enhanced by
the industrial ‘Internet of Things’.
Some of the topics covered by Nosbusch in his presentation included how
manufacturers were creating The Connected Enterprise built on standard Internet
Protocol-based networks; current customer applications; as well as Rockwell
Automation’s own journey with The Connected Enterprise, highlighting productivity
and competitive gains realised from these efforts.
According to Nosbusch, The Connected Enterprise brings together people,
processes and technology to achieve enhanced productivity, sustainability and
economic performance, and enable a smarter, more productive and more secure
environment.
Observing that IoT technologies will help transform the industrial sector in
the coming years Nosbusch said that Rockwell Automation was at the forefront of
enabling industry leaders to move The Connected Enterprise from concept to
reality, using industrial IoT to further enhance business performance.
Rockwell Automation executives also led discussions during the event about
industrial IoT use cases and evolving integrated control and information
architectures for industry that leverage IoT technologies to deliver business
value.
