PV inverters for harsh environments

Sungrow, an inverter solution supplier for renewables, has shown off its UL 1741-SA certified 1500V string and central PV inverters as well as C&I and utility energy storage system (ESS) at the Solar Power International 2017 in Las Vegas, NV, USA.

Both of the inverters are said to have the ability to adapt to a severe environment. The SG125HV, which has received UL 1741-SA certification recently, is the said to be the world’s most powerful 1500Vdc string inverter, featuring a high capacity of 125kW.

As a turnkey station for 1500Vdc systems, the SG2500U is the first UL 1741-SA-certified central inverter. Sungrow also announced recently that it has won a deal supplying 205MW of SG2500U for a utility-scale project in California, USA.

As for ESS, showcased is the commercial and utility-scale 250KW-2/4 hours turnkey solution which is specifically designed for C&I projects in North America. It features a small footprint, flexible installation, easy O&M, powerful grid functions, and can be configured from 250kW to 1MW.

The DC-coupled ESS solution for PV plus storage projects is also introduced at the show. The system, which has been installed at a 100MW and a 20MW PV power plant, greatly improves the predicted accuracy of PV power, ensuring smooth PV power output and enhance efficiency. Also on show were batteries supplied by Sungrow-Samsung SDI joint venture.
