Profibus expo to be staged at the Melbourne Cricket Ground

After being staged in Sydney, Perth and Brisbane, the Profibus ‘One for All’ EXPO will arrive at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on October 13, 2010. This free EXPO has been organised by Profibus Association of Australia (PAA) and combines a Technology Forum and a Technology Fair.

Profibus is the world’s most successful fieldbus with very high adoption rates in Australia as well. By the end of 2009, over 31 million Profibus devices had been installed worldwide – more than 5.4 million of these in the process industries.

Visitors will be able to learn first hand from Profibus technical experts and experienced end users. Tooheys is set to deliver an interesting user experience presentation for the brewery industry titled “The importance of certified network installation”.

Sappi Saiccor will examine the complexities behind “Process troubleshooting with Profibus” for the paper & pulp industries. Those interested in how to use Profibus in manufacturing can sit in on the presentation from Wang Components who will educate and inform attendees on the machining of pipe couplings and clamps. Rel-liance will outline a users experience with Profibus in the water industry.

EXPO visitors seeking a quick and free skills upgrade can choose from a set of indepth technical sessions which include “Safety Fieldbus for Process applications”; “Profibus PA engineering and Installation” and “Profibus Diagnostic tools”.

“The Technology Forum and Technology Fair in Melbourne provides a convenient Profibus information resource under one roof for project engineers, instrument technicians, electricians – in fact, anyone interested or involved in Profibus technology,” says PAA President John Immelman.

An interesting mix of companies from the process and factory automation sectors will showcase their Profibus products and solutions in an interactive environment at the Technology Fair. PAA is making available tabletops to companies wishing to promote their products or services at the EXPO.

The continued success of Profibus can be attributed to its unique ability to significantly reduce costs over a plant’s entire life cycle.
