Profibus Australia’s training enrolments show dramatic rise

Fieldbus Association Profibus Australia has returned a record gross turnover for 2011 according to trading figures presented at the AGM recently.

Highlights included enrolments in PAA’s Certified Profibus Training programmes, which rose dramatically due to increased demand from leading companies in the mining and water/ wastewater sectors.

PAA Chairman Rafael Koenig attributed the result to a combination of good management and good fortune.

“There is no question we have benefitted from ‘the winds of good fortune’ blowing in from Asia over recent years. As mining companies in WA and Queensland continue to ramp up production to meet the growing demand for our minerals, these companies now realise that Certified Training is the fastest way to improve the efficiency of their process – a message we’ve been spruiking for years,” commented Koenig.

A 35% increase in membership among end-users and vendors was another highlight, reflecting dramatic growth in fieldbus technology in the process and manufacturing sectors over recent years.

In 2011, the PAA chose to re-invest a large percentage of their revenue back into the association by initiating a number of marketing communication campaigns aimed at developing the local market.

The highlights included a new online eNewsletter distributing local news and new product information to end-users; plus telemarketing campaigns promoting PAA’s Certified Training programmes and the successful Profibus Technical EXPO in Perth.
