Planting engineering seeds in high school

A new DVD and teaching resource kit developed by the Association of the Consulting Engineers Australia was launched by NSW Minister for Education and Training, John Della Bosca.

The kit aims to secure the future of engineering in Australia by mobilising the potential workforce in our schools. It is hoped the DVD will demystify the engineering profession and encourage students to arm themselves with the necessary maths and science skills.

The DVD was launched at Eagle Vale High School in Sydney’s South West. It is schools like Eagle Vale that may provide part of the solution to Australia’s severe engineering shortage which is causing major project delays and threatens the national economy.
