Samsung Total Petrochemicals (Samsung Total) will use Melbourne company Aspen Technology’s aspenONE Planning and Scheduling at its Olefins and Aromatics plants in Daesan, Korea.
Based on initial results, Samsung Total expects to achieve $5 million in annual savings by using aspenONE software, Aspen Technology claims.
The aspenONE Planning and Scheduling for Olefins is expected to help fill the gap between planning and production execution, and completes Samsung Total’s vision of a fully integrated, multi-level process optimisation system, Aspen Technology says.
Samsung Total is a long-time user of aspenONE process optimisation solutions and is one of Total Petrochemical’s most efficient plant complexes, the company claims.
According to Aspen Technology, amid the global economic downturn, Samsung Total chose to add AspenTech’s planning and scheduling solution to compete more effectively and find ways to improve margins.
The aspenONE solution is designed to offer: better inventory visibility on feed stocks and final products; development of ‘what if’ scenarios for various business decisions and their impending production outcomes; reduced gaps between optimal planning targets and actual outcomes; and improved feedback loops on plan vs. schedule vs. actual.
