West Australian Premier Colin Barnett has voiced his support of the 2009 Australasian Oil & Gas Exhibition (AOG) in Perth, emphasising the importance of the petroleum sector to the state’s future economic growth.
Taking place in Perth from 17th to 19th February, AOG 2009 will be the largest oil and gas exhibition ever held in the Southern Hemisphere with more than 300 local and international exhibitors from countries including China, Germany, Norway, USA and the United Kingdom, according to the organisers, Diversified Exhibitions.
In a statement, Barnett encouraged participation in the major industry gathering and invited companies to be part of Western Australia’s ongoing success in the Australasian oil and gas industry.
“Western Australia is Australia’s preeminent oil and gas state, accounting in 2007-08 for about 70 percent of the nation’s crude oil, condensate and gas production (including LNG) and valued at more than $19.4 billion,” said Barnett.
“Expansion of the petroleum sector is a key part of Western Australia’s future and opportunities to be part of it are immense.”
AOG 2009 will celebrate Western Australia’s contribution to the global oil and gas industry, whilst providing a platform for new projects and technologies from companies concerned with oil and gas production, exploration, engineering, construction, subsea and more.
The event, to be held at Perth Convention Exhibition Centre, will also incorporate the Society for Underwater Technology 1st Annual Subsea Conference.
“The Australasian Oil & Gas Exhibition has been held in Western Australia bi-annually for more than 25 years — to have the endorsement of Premier Colin Barnett for what will undoubtedly be our biggest year yet is testament to the evolution of the exhibition and the local oil and gas industry as a whole” said AOG exhibition director, Bill Hare.
