Oz Seals develops stronger Aflas Extreme elastomer for chemical use

Oz Seals announces
the launch of its latest elastomer innovation, the Aflas Extreme TFE elastomer.

Based on Aflas by
Asahi Glass Company, Aflas Extreme is a unique type of fluorinated rubber that
combines superior strength with extreme chemical, temperature and electrical resistance.
Formulated with an additional PTFE backbone into the structure, the Aflas
Extreme is stronger than standard Aflas.

The high strength properties
make Aflas Extreme the ideal material for use in chemical industries,
refineries and foundries, even in extreme temperatures of up to 316°C. Aflas
Extreme is also priced right, positioned just above Viton and offering a
suitable solution as an affordable alternative to DuPont’s Kalrez.

Key advantages of Aflas
Extreme elastomer include high resistance to a wide variety of chemicals,
including hydraulic fluids, brake fluids, amine corrosion inhibitors, acids,
bleaches, pulp and paper liquors, and alcohols; excellent abrasion resistance; and
low compression set (70 hours at 316°C) of 18%, providing versatility to
perform under any industry and application.

Processed under the
chemical compounding department of Oz Seals, also known as Prinz Polymers, Aflas
Extreme elastomer is readily available in the form of semi-finished billets,
machined seals, O rings and gaskets.
