Manufacturing Technology InFocus (MTIF) — and its associated events Automate, Austronics and Electrix — will be incorporated within National Manufacturing Week from 2008.
MTIF -which ends in Sydney tomorrow- will be combined with NMW to create a ‘mega-show’, following Reed Exhibitions’ purchase of the event from Diversified Exhibitions Australia.
“Held every year alternating between Sydney and Melbourne, NMW provides Australia’s manufacturing industry with a unique opportunity to source new products and technologies across the industry’s key sectors,” said John Gorton, Reed Exhibitions’ director — industrial events.
“For exhibitors and visitors, NMW is a proven “one-stop show” from Australia’s leading industrial exhibition organiser, and is now the only event that brings together market leaders from a wide selection of national and international manufacturing communities,” he said. “Manufacturing Technology InFocus is Australia’s leading manufacturing technology exhibition for the automation, process, electronics and electrical industries, and incorporates the “sub-brand” exhibitions Automate, Austronics and Electrix.”
Gorton said that from 2008, National Manufacturing Week’s list of industry-specific pavilions would be expanded to include the electronics and electrical sectors for the first time. The Austronics and Electrix pavilions will line up alongside the other established pavilions at NMW:
AIEE (general manufacturing)
Air Technology Austech (machine tools — organised by AMTIL)
Automation & Robotics CIMTech (computer technology)
Health & Safety ICEX (process, control & instrumentation)
LMHD (logistics & materials handling)
WeldTech (welding, joining and heat-treatment equipment).
They include and the Surface Mount and Circuit Board Association (SMCBA).
Angus Robinson, chief executive of the Australian Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers Association (AEEMA)welcomed the consolidation of the two events. “The joining together of these two quality exhibitions is an excellent move from AEEMA’s point of view — and in fact mirrors our own plans to consolidate AEEMA into the structure of the Australian Industry Group later this year,” he said.
NMW will take place at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour from May 27-30, 2008.
