NMW 2014 to feature record 15 product zones

National Manufacturing Week 2014 will feature six new product zones and, as the sector begins to expand again, will feature more floor space for the sectors and technologies that are driving industry growth.

A record 15 product zones will be featured at NMW 2014, which will be held at Sydney Showground and begin on Tuesday May 13 (finishing on the 16th).

The expo will also, for the first time ever in Sydney, be co-located with Ausplas, the once-every-three-years plastics technology expo.

There will be six new product zones – including for Engineering Services Product Zone (supported by Engineers Australia) and Machine Tools – and, for the first time ever, a R&D Hub, where research providers can be communicated with directly.

“Each year, we review NMW in line with independent research and Reed Exhibition’s own intelligence on industry directions,” said Anthony Reed, the NMW exhibition director.

“Arising from the research findings, NMW 2014’s new floorplan will highlight ideas, technologies and strategies that are helping manufacturers drive sales growth.”

According to the event’s director, over 100 companies have already committed to participating. Last year there were 11,223 trade visitors for NMW.

The focus on driving growth comes as the last two monthly PMI results show the industry expanded in September and October, ending a succession of negative results that began in June 2011.

National Manufacturing Week will also include the 11th annual Manufacturers’ Monthly’s Endeavour Awards, which will take place on May 14.
