New head for Siemens Building Technologies group

Siemens Ltd (Australia and New Zealand) has promoted Michael Shaw, current head of the company’s Strategic Planning and Controlling Group, to become head of Building Technologies for the Pacific region, bringing 16 years of experience in the water and energy industries.

Shaw’s promotion will become effective on 1st April 2009. In his announcement to the organisation, managing director and chairman, Albert Goller, said Shaw’s has made valuable contributions to the organisation since beginning as a graduate in 1993.

“Michael has gained a lot of experience in various businesses throughout the company and is currently head of our Strategic Planning and Controlling Group,” said Goller.

“His work over the 16 years he has been with Siemens has helped position us as the leading provider of technology-based solutions that address the greatest problems now facing Australia and New Zealand – these being in the areas of water, energy, environment, healthcare, productivity, mobility, safety and security.

“We are extremely proud that someone who came through the local ranks has been promoted to this important position.”

Prior to his current appointment, Shaw was the executive general commercial manager for Healthcare (then Medical) at Siemens for 3½ years. He has also worked in service, product and project roles in various departments including Telecommunications, Components and SAP support.

He spent a year in Germany as part of the Siemens global commercial trainee program, including three months of German language training and work experience in Telecommunications in Munich, and holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Melbourne University.
