A new electrical energy trade fair is being planned in Germany.
The first Electrical Energy Storage event will take place from 13-16 November 2012 on the Messe Muchen site (Munich Trade Fair Centre), and will run concurrently with the Electronica trade fair.
The event has the tag line, ‘International Trade Fair for Batteries, Energy Storage Devices and Innovative Manufacturing’, and has recently won the support of the German Engineering Federation (VDMA), Productronics trade association and ZVEI (the Central Association of the German Electrical and Electronics Industries).
Along with its input into the organisation of the event, Messe Munchen also chose the final name for the trade fair.
Messe Munchen GmbH deputy chairman of the Board, Norbert Bargmann, said he was pleased to see VDMA, Productronics, and ZVEI throwing their weight behind the Electrical Energy Storage event 2012.
With these partners on board, the company aims have a greater ability to meet the goals of and to ensure that manufacturers and users will be equally represented.
“From high performance batteries to supercapacitors to the fuel cell, the electrical energy storage device field offers ample opportunities for synergies with electronics manufacturing,” said Dr Eric Maiser, deputy managing director of the Productronics Association in the VDMA.
“Automation and mass production are driving the necessary precision for both product longevity and cost reduction.
“Electronics engineering has innovations ready and waiting that are eminently applicable to electrical energy storage devices. For VDMA Productronics, the proximity to Productronica and Electronica is ideal,” Dr Maiser said.
Christoph Stoppok, Managing Director of the PCB and Electronic Systems trade association within the ZVEI, also voiced his thoughts on the benefits in collaboration: “It is precisely the sea change in the energy market, with its focus on the use of renewable energies – inherently subject to considerable fluctuations in output – and its application in hybrid and electric vehicles that offers our member companies an attractive market for the sale of their products and services.
“We see electrical energy storage as an ideal complement to the programme offered by the double billing of the Electronica and Productronica trade fairs.”
Automatica, the International Trade Fair for Automation and Mechatronics, from 22 – 25 May 2012, provides a foretaste of Electrical Energy Storage 2012, with its special exhibition “Battery Production and Automation Technology”. This will focus on all aspects of production automation – industrial image processing, robotics together with assembly and handling technology.
The trade fair will be accompanied by a congress lasting several days at which prominent speakers from industry, research and politics will discuss the latest developments and solutions.
