The ABB Group has appointed a new chief executive officer (CEO), Joseph M Hogan, to take over from Michele Demaré — ABB Group’s chief financial officer (CFO) who has held the CEO position on an interim basis since February this year.
Hogan commenced his role as CEO on 1st September 2008, moving over from his previously-held position as CEO of GE Healthcare, as reported in ABB Australia’s spring newsletter.
GE Healthcare is a global provider of medical diagnostic technology and biosciences, meaning Hogan brings with him a wealth of knowledge in technology and scientific research.
According to ABB Australia’s newsletter, which is distributed four times a year to ABB customers around the country, Hogan will use his new role to further research new energy efficient technologies to apply to new solutions for ABB Group.
“I am honoured to become ABB’s CEO. I am deeply committed to ABB’s drive to increase energy efficiency and industrial productivity for its customers. I look forward to leading the company to the next stage of its development and success together with the team at ABB,” said Hogan, as quoted in the newsletter.
According to ABB Chairman, Hubertos von Gruenberg, ABB chose Hogan because of his proven track record in the global technology arena.
“Following our extensive search over the past months, the Board of Directors is very pleased with [Hogan’s] decision to take on this exciting role,” said von Gruenberg.
