NANOTECHNOLOGY and optoelectronics researcher Professor Chennupati Jagadish has been awarded Australia's highest honour for his service to physics and engineering.
At the 2016 Australia Day Honours, Professor Jagadish was appointed a Companion of the Order of Australia (AC) for eminent service to physics and engineering, particularly in the field of nanotechnology.
He was also recognised for his contributions to academics, as a researcher, author, and mentor, as well as his executive roles with with national and international scientific advisory institutions.
"This is a wonderful recognition for 25 plus years of work with my research group at the ANU," said Professor Jagadish.
Professor Jagadish paid tribute to the many people who had contributed to his research career, from students to international collaborators.
"It is a privilege and pleasure to work with enthusiastic colleagues who are passionate about what they do," he said.
Professor Jagadish moved to ANU in 1990 and is currently Distinguished Professor and Head of Semiconductor Optoelectronics and Nanotechnology Group in the Department of EME, RSPE, the ANU.
He is also serving as Director of ANFF, ACT node and Convenor of the Australian Nanotechnology Network. He is Vice-President and Secretary Physical Sciences of the Australian Academy of Science and Vice-President (Finance and Administration) of the IEEE Photonics Society.
Professor Jagadish’s research interests include compound semiconductor optoelectronics and nanotechnology. He holds honorary appointments at UESTC, Chengdu, Nanjing University, Tokyo University and Anna University.
