Queensland’s Premier Campbell Newman, recently recognised Metso’s Process Technology and Innovation team (PTI) for their delivery of innovative technical solutions to the global resources industry.
PTI provides specialised consulting services, research and products to improve the productivity and sustainability of mining operations around the world.
The team was selected as a finalist in the Minerals and Energy category of The Premier of Queensland’s Export Awards announced in Brisbane in October 2013.
The Minerals and Energy Award is presented for outstanding international success in the production or primary processing of extractive and value-added minerals or energy products, technology, equipment and services to the minerals and energy industries.
Congratulating Dr Valery on the team’s success, Managing Director of Trade and Investment Queensland, Rod Whiddon, said: “The Premier of Queensland’s Export awards are Queensland’s highest recognition of export achievement. In becoming a finalist of this award you have demonstrated the talent and innovative spirit that always wins accolades.”
Metso’s Process Technology and Innovation group, part of Metso’s Mining and Construction Division, provides global consulting services and products for the mining and construction industries.
In the last 10 years, over 400 projects have been conducted and more than 50 advanced systems have been sold. Through its integrated process solutions for the entire operation – from the mine to the processing plant, Metso has been able to deliver considerable results to the industry: increases in production (5 to 30%) and metal recovery, cost and energy reduction, as well as overall process efficiency increases at a number of operations worldwide.
The headquarters of Metso’s Process Technology and Innovation business unit and its main technical capability are located in Brisbane at the Queensland Centre for Advanced Technologies (QCAT) technical precinct, with additional offices, laboratories and pilot plants located globally.
