The major global manufacturing sectors experienced sluggish or
negative growth last month, according to several PMI results.
Reuters reports that April was generally
a sluggish month.
The US PMI dropped from to 54.1 – the slowest growth so far in
2015 – 55.7 in March, Canada’s sector was under 50 for the third straight month
(according to the Markit Canada PMI), and Britain’s factories slipped to a
seven-month-low of 51.9 from 54.0.
Any result below 50 indicates contraction.
Japan’s Markit/JMMA PMI also saw a weak result, down to 49.9
from 50.3.
