LogiCamms has been awarded two design contracts for the upgrade of electrical infrastructure at Rio Tinto’s iron ore ports.
Worth a combined value of $8.3 million, the contracts for the initial phase of broader upgrade will see LogiCamms design and engineer electrical and control systems to improve the low voltage substations at Rio’s East Intercourse Island and Cape Lambert port sites.
Work has already begun on the 18 month design and construction project.
LogiCamms managing director Steve Banning said the award of this ‘significant port infrastructure project’ shows Rio Tinto’s confidence in the company.
"LogiCamms has more than 20 years of experience in the iron ore industry, including many Rio Tinto sites, and have completed in excess of 140 electrical substation projects.
"The company also has extensive mine to port experience in brownfield project delivery to draw on," Banning added.
He went on to say that this award complements the recent increase in contracts.
