The PSD signal towers available from Phoenix Contact feature a new multi-colour LED element that enables signalling of machine and system states using up to seven colours.
Three control lines are provided for the selection of red, yellow, green, blue, white, violet and turquoise colours. In comparison with five-level signal towers, two digital outputs less are required; and one digital output less when compared to three-level signal towers. The multi-colour element, which can be used universally, also reduces storage costs as optical elements in various colours do not need to be stocked.
The LED technology ensures low energy consumption as well as a long service life of 50,000 hours. The long lifespan reduces maintenance costs when compared to optical elements with light bulbs that need to be often replaced.
