The importance of calibration webinar

Calibration determines whether a module is delivering correctly measured values or needs adjustment.

Mettler Toledo is holding a free webinar that will explore instrument calibration and offer tips to ensure it brings better accuracy in ongoing thermal-analysis efforts.

Titled Calibration in Thermal Analysis,  the webinar will be held on Thursday, June 20th, 2017. The English-language presentation, offered three times to allow participation from around the globe, will discuss the importance of regular instrument calibration in thermal analysis.

Calibration must be performed regularly to ensure reproducible and accurate results. However, unlike equipment that is only used to measure mass, thermal analysis equipment has a range of parameters that must be considered, including temperature, heating rate, and the main signal.

The webinar will review instrument calibration and adjustment for differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), thermomechanical analysis (TMA), and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA). Participants will learn valuable tips and hints, including:

  • What influences thermal analysis results
  • How often calibration should be performed, and
  • How many reference substances are recommended.

The company will also show how modern software such as STARe can support this important task.
