Honeywell is showcasing the latest advancements in process automation and controls that will help manufacturers in Asia Pacific sustain their performance and lifecycles to maximise plant safety, reliability and efficiency.
Themed “Sustain.Ability.” the 2012 Honeywell Users Group (HUG) Asia-Pacific Symposium will highlight Honeywell’s newest products including the next-generation Experion Orion Process Knowledge System (PKS) and the new collaboration software Intuition Executive.
Honeywell User Group Asia-Pacific Symposium is the company’s largest customer gathering in the region, where more than 200 customers and partners are expected to attend over four days from August 5-9 on the Gold Coast.
“Asia continues to exhibit growth as customers in the process automation industry for growth and development. However, with the economic turbulences, customers in the process industry are looking for technologies and solutions that help improve operations, better manage assets, drive efficiency and generate returns on investments,” said Jason Urso, chief technology officer, Honeywell Process Solutions.

“At this year’s Honeywell Users Group Asia-Pacific Symposium, we are showing attendees how they can manage priorities to achieve and sustain good business performance,” added Urso.
The highlights at HUG Asia-Pacific include:
- Experion Orion PKS, Honeywell’s flagship offering. This next generation system has undergone major advancements that can help significantly improve plant production by up to 13 percent, significantly reduce operator-related safety incidents and lower the total of cost of ownership by up to 30 percent. The new Experion Orion PKS is the first industrial process system to use Universal Channel Technology to remotely configure process and safety systems without the need for additional hardware.
- A first-hand look at Honeywell’s recently launched Intuition™ Executive collaboration software which allows manufacturers to analyse and visualise data across their entire enterprises to better respond to volatile energy costs, complex regulatory changes and real-world safety challenges.
- A live demonstration of a new 3D simulation solution Honeywell is developing that combines visualisation technology with its UniSim Design Operations simulation tool. The solution will provide a holistic virtual environment that plants can use to efficiently design, analyse and verify plant operations.
- The winner of the 2012 Asia Pacific UniSim Design Student Competition, Tuyen Dinh Quang of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, will showcase the winning solution, designed to simulate the complex petroleum refinery process to help optimise production.
The HUG APAC 2012 program consists of four days of customer-driven sessions and presentations, as well as demonstrations of the latest Honeywell technologies designed for the process industries. Industry-specific tracks include oil & gas, refining, chemicals, mining and pulp & paper, and cover topics such as plant modernisation, control system migration, oil & gas measurement and simulation.
