Tasmanian businesses to benefit from renewable energy projects

Tasmanian minister for energy and renewables Guy Barnett launched the Tasmanian Renewable Energy Supply Chain Directory to support local businesses.

Tasmanian minister for energy and renewables Guy Barnett launched the Tasmanian Renewable Energy Supply Chain Directory to support local businesses.

This Directory is currently being developed by Industry Capability Network Tasmania and Bell Bay Advanced Manufacturing Zone, with input from ReCFIT.

“A commitment under the Tasmanian Renewable Energy Action Plan was to establish a Tasmanian Renewable Energy Supply Chain Directory, which has gone live on-line today,” Minister Barnett said.

“The Directory will assist renewable energy proponents to identify Tasmanian businesses with the capabilities they need and it aims to increase the participation of Tasmanian providers of goods and services in future renewable energy projects.

“Tasmanian suppliers with an interest in wind, solar and bio-energy project opportunities will be able to register for inclusion in the Directory by submitting a short Expression of Interest form.

“As part of the EOI they will be invited to indicate their businesses capability in a range of fields relevant to renewable energy production, for example components, project management, transport services and civil works, to name a few.

“We want to ensure that Tasmanian businesses have the greatest chance of benefitting from our renewable energy future and suppliers included in the Directory will receive notifications of renewable energy projects that are seeking relevant skills or services.

“Suppliers can also be matched with and promoted to project proponents depending on their identified capabilities and the proponent’s requirements,” Minister Barnett said.

For Tasmanian businesses with an interest to supply into green hydrogen projects, they will be able to register through a separate Green Hydrogen – Tasmanian Supply Chain Capability Directory page.
