The closure of a Siemens Energy and Automation Inc plant in Ohio, United States, will close earlier than expected, arriving as a late Christmas present for 434 unlucky workers.
Siemens Energy and Automation Inc distributed a “layoff notice” to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services for workers at its Bellefontaine assembly facility last week, according to a report from Urbana Citizen.
Though Siemens announced in 2006 that it planned to close to Ohio facility, at the time it said the closure would take place in 2010.
Layoffs will now begin in January 2009 and continue through to March 2009, according to the report.
