Green technologies win attention at the 2014 TiGiS show

The sixth Taiwan International Green Industry Show (TiGiS), organized by TAITRA and Expo Union, was held on October 6 to 9 at the TWTC Nangang Exhibition Hall in Taipei.

This year, it was again held in conjunction with the Taipei International Electronics Show (Taitronics), to build a business platform for green technology.

A total of 201 exhibitors using 331 booths showcased their latest products in this year's TiGiS.

TiGiS was held concurrently held with the Asian Trade Promotion Forum (ATPF), which is themed "Green Vision, Green Asia".

Exhibitors from nine trade associations participated: JETRO (Japan), KOTRA (Korea), HKTDC (Hong Kong), IPIM (Macu), MNCCI (Mongolia), MATRADE (Malaysia), DGNED (Indonesia), DITP (Thailand) and FNCCI (Nepal).

Meanwhile, the 40th edition of Taitronics, themed "Green Electronics, Intelligent Life", took place at the same venue, providing collaboration opportunities between the electronics and green industries. This also expands markets for green production technologies, green product design and green procurement.

Theme pavilions by government agencies, industrial R&D centers and associations showcased the full range of Taiwan's green industry.

These include the theme pavilion of the Industrial Development Bureau, the "Taiwan Green Trade Zone" of the Bureau of Foreign Trade, the "Sources of Alternative Energies" of the Bureau of Energy, the "SEM Innovation Incubation Center for Green Industry" of Kaohsiung City, the "Green Energy Flagship Pavilion" of the New Taipei City Government, the "Shale Oil and Gas Equipment Industry Link" of the Taiwan-USA Industrial Cooperation Promotion Office, the Taiwan Environmental Manufacturers Association area, and the Taiwan Wind Energy Association area.

During TiGiS, a series of seminars emphasized the management of energy sources and renewable energy.

Further, TAITRA organized the "Taiwan Smart Grid Technologies Symposium" with the Smart Grid Focus Center and the Taiwan Smart Grid Industry Association, to share the latest smart grid trends and technologies.

In addition, a "Taiwan-USA Unconventional Oil and Gas Industry Seminar" was held to discuss the latest mining technologies for coal, shale gas and oil.

TiGiS was organised to showcase Taiwan's strengths in innovation, research and development to global markets.
