Government seeking advice on space industry funding strategy

The Australian Space Agency is seeking the views of researchers and businesses on the application of the federal government’s International Space Investment (ISI) initiative.

The government announced the initiative in its 2018-19 Budget under the Australian Technology and Science Growth Plan, which committed to providing $15 million over three years from 2019-20 to support strategic international space projects that generate employment and business opportunities for Australians.

The Australian Space Agency is currently seeking advice and views on how the ISI will work from businesses and researchers that are currently engaged, or would like to be engaged, in international space projects. Their views will reportedly influence the final design of the ISI, which is to start later this year.

The Agency will be holding question and answer sessions in every capital city to support the submissions process.

Online submissions on the ISI consultation paper can be made up to July 1.
