This year Atlas Copco will roll out its variable speed drive plus (VSD+) technology among many of its GA oil-injected rotary screw compressors. Starting in mid-June, all pack and full feature versions of the GA 37, GA 45, GA 55 and GA 75kW compressors will be available worldwide with the technology.
The company’s GA VSD+ compressor features an iPM (Permanent Manager) motor, a new compression element and a sentinel valve. These technologies allow it to deliver even more energy savings than the first generation of VSD compressors, according to the company. Free Air Delivery (FAD) and Specific Energy Requirement (SER) both improved by up to nine per cent. This means users get up to 9 per cent more air while using up to nine per cent less energy, the company claims.
