The first installation of Siemens’ new SIMATIC S7-1200 controller in Australia by Versacold is setting new standards for industrial automation, combining a wide variety of functions from counting and measuring, speed, position and duty cycle control to simple process control functionality, according to the company.
The Siemens SIMATIC range of integrated automation solutions has “long been synonymous with reliability and performance,” Siemens said in a press notice.
“The S7-1200 was selected due to its price-performance ratio, integrated Ethernet port and compact and expandable design,” said Versacold Logistics Electrical Team Manager, Paul Ellis.
“The fact that the S7 1200 is so expandable allows us to optimise the automation hardware required to the particular task at hand.”
Siemens executive manager marketing, Ashish Bhat, said the SIMATIC S7-1200 controller family has been designed with maximum flexibility to fit individual machine requirements.
“With such a flexible, modular design the SIMATIC S7-1200 enables a completely customised controller system that has maximum scalability and adaptability for potential future expansion,” he said.
“Featuring an integrated PROFINET interface, powerful integrated technology functions and a highly scalable and flexible design, the SIMATIC S7-1200 controller enables simple and efficient communication for automation requirements across a wide range of applications.
“The integrated PROFINET interface is used for programming, as well as for HMI and PLC-to-PLC communication. Additionally, it supports communication with third-party devices using open Ethernet protocols.”
