Ethernet switches incorporate PoE into design of unit

Backplane Systems Technology has launched Neousys Technology’s EDX-104 Series of five-port IEEE 802.3at PoE+ unmanaged ethernet switches with PoE+ PD and DC dual power input.

The EDX-104 range of unmanaged Ethernet switches is one of the world’s first to incorporate PoE (Power over Ethernet) into the design of the unit, combining IEEE 802.3at PSE/PD and a fanless design for complete IP protection. The EDX-104 offers five Gigabit Ethernet ports that are compliant with 802.3, 802.3u and 802.3ab standards.

Four of the ports on the EDX-104 support 802.3at PoE+ PSE and can deliver up to 25.5W to PoE PD on each of the four ports.

One of the unique features of the EDX-104 is that it supports DC dual power input, meaning that it can be powered by a conventional 24/48 VDC power adapter or it can be powered by an Ethernet cable via the PoE PD+ ports. Making the EDX-104 very versatile as it is able to be powered by two different sources.

The EDX-104 series is designed with EMS level 3 protection making it a very rugged and durable platform and with it being able to operate in temperatures from -25 °C to +70 °C. The EDX-104 series is perfect for networks where environmental variables may be an issue.

Features of the EDX-104 series include:

  • Five 10/100/1000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet Ports.
  • Supports IEEE 802.3at PoE+ PSE on Port 2-5
  • Up to 25.5W Power Output on Ports 2-5, for a total 80W Power Budget.
  • Dual Power Input

– PoE+ PD mode via 1 port.

– 24/48 VDC input with power connector.

  • EMS Level 3 Protection for Industrial Environments.
  • Industrial Grade, -25°C to +70°C Fanless Operation.
