EMO Hannover 2011: Metalworking trade to be held in September 2011

EMO – the global trade show for metalworking – will once again take place in Germany this year. From 19 to 24 September 2011, international manufacturing technology vendors and solution providers will present "More than machine tools" at EMO Hannover.

"EMO Hannover excels in terms of its international scope and appeal, the comprehensive range of the products and services on offer, its role as an innovation driver and the high caliber of its visitors and exhibitors," commented Dr. Wilfried Schäfer, Executive Director at the German Machine Tool Builders’ Association (VDW).

Schäfer is convinced that the metalworking industry’s pivotal forum will make “a major contribution to a market upswing in 2011”, triggering investment and demonstrating that the profound economic slump in 2009 and 2010 is finally behind us.

No other major trade show in the triad markets draws more international visitors and exhibitors than EMO Hannover. At the last event in 2007, fully one-third of its 166,500 attendees came from outside Germany. On the exhibitor side, each and every machine tool producing nation is represented. The 2,100 companies that participated in 2007 came from 42 countries; over 60 percent were from countries
other than Germany.

EMO presents the full scope of current developments in manufacturing technology, from single machines to production systems and complete manufacturing solutions. The show’s main focus is on cutting and forming machine tools, manufacturing systems, precision tools, measurement technology, automated material flow, CA technologies, control and drive engineering and accessories.

This appeals to professionals from every corner of the world. "A single visit gives them a complete overview. They meet all the important players in the industry at one time and place, and can directly compare what all the relevant competitors have to offer," added Schäfer.

This comprehensive range of products and services was featured at the last EMO Hannover on over 180,000 square meters of net exhibition space, which corresponds to a gross area of 291,900 square meters. The show caters to the needs of solution-seeking professionals while solely highlighting
the expertise on offer by machine tool manufacturers.

Clear-cut display categories by machine type make it easy for visitors to find exactly what they are looking for.

New products and services are exhibited along with trends for the coming years. Streamlining and combining individual processes, such as separating, turning, drilling, milling, grinding, gear cutting and forming, is supplemented by smart solutions for improvements in the process chain.

Depending on manufacturing requirements, this process chain may vary quite a bit from very customer to customer, and EMO offers something for everyone.

Innovation targets include reducing the space and resource footprints of machines, minimising life cycle costs, intelligent software support for manufacturing planning and much more. Producers offering additional services have a significant competitive advantage. For example, services such as project planning, process optimisation or training generate added value. "This is why ‘More than machine tools’ is the chosen motto for EMO Hannover 2011," explained Wilfried Schäfer.

In Australia, EMO is supported by Hannover Fairs Australia.
