Emerson Process Management has opened the first manufacturing and
integration centre in Asia for its Rosemount Analytical technologies to augment
its broad range of automation services for Southeast Asia customers.
Set up with support from the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB),
the new facility represents an investment of over USD11 million, and is an
addition to Emerson’s existing Southeast Asia Service Center in Singapore that
opened in 2008. The new centre will produce and distribute analytical and
combustion sensors, engineer and design complete analyser-based solutions, and
develop and produce customer-specific systems and products.
Emerson’s new analytical technologies manufacturing and integration
centre was officially opened by David Farr, Emerson Chairman and CEO, and Yeoh
Keat Chuan, Managing Director of Singapore Economic Development Board on 18
November 2014.
Emerson Process Management is recognised globally for its Rosemount
Analytical solutions and services, which are widely used in the oil and gas
production and petrochemical industries. These industries are experiencing
significant growth and driving demand for Emerson’s solutions in Southeast
Asia.
According to Sabee Mitra, president of Emerson Process Management, Asia
Pacific, their customers depend on speed of service and expert collaboration to
solve their toughest problems and achieve operational excellence. Being centrally
situated in Singapore, the new facility is able to supply locally stocked or
produced analytical products, engineering and lifecycle support services to
customers.
The new centre is expected to employ 65 people by the end of 2015
spanning engineering, quality control and information technology divisions. The
design, engineering and fabrication of integrated solutions for analysers and
sample handling systems at the centre will commence in November 2014.
Applications covered will include process gas, natural gas, and continuous
emission monitoring and steam water analysis systems.
Emerson’s new integration centre will also stock products and spares to
ensure faster service to customers across the region. Lifecycle service
capabilities including local failure analysis, repair and warranty evaluation
services, and factory-certified product and system training will also be
available.
Manufacturing will be operational by early 2015 for key analytical
instrumentation products to serve Asia Pacific and other markets. Products
planned for Singapore production initially include liquid and combustion
analysis sensors as well as accompanying instrumentation. The centre plans to
manufacture gas detector products as well as gas chromatographs and process gas
analysers in future.
Sundeep Saraf, vice president of Emerson’s Rosemount Analytical
business, Asia Pacific adds that the Singapore location for the new analytical
centre continues Emerson’s strategy of close proximity to customers for easy
access to its substantial and growing analytical technology and services.
