Electrical contractor wins NECA award for instrumentation cabling

Southern Cross Electrical Engineering has received the winning gong in the 2009 National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA) Excellence Awards’ Industrial category for a ship-loading, stockyard and wharf upgrade project in Western Australia.

The electrical contracting company’s project — officially called the Cape Lambert Upgrade 80MTPA Project in Karratha, Western Australia — included the removal and deconstruction of the existing, redundant electrical plant and equipment.

The company then installed and pre-commissioned 34 new facilities for the Cape Lambert site, and reallocated areas of the old plant to use as load centres while the project was in operation.

Southern Cross Electrical Engineering also either installed or pre-commissioned the power, instrumentation and lighting cabling and fixtures for all facilities across the site.
