Downer EDI has won a $400 million contract with Bechtel for two electrical and instrumentation packages at the Wheatstone project.
It will provide the E&I projects for the downstream portion of the Chevron operated project.
Under the agreement, Downer expects to create around 600 jobs, predominately at Ashburton North, near Onslow in WA, mostly in construction.
The scope of the contract includes the inside and outside of the LNG trains and domestic gas plant processing areas and will see Downer install cable support systems, the electrical control and instrumentation cabling, calibrating instruments, installing major electrical equipment, pre-commissioning works, and the commissioning and start-up assistance.
Grant Fenn, Downer’s CEO, said the company is”delighted to have been awarded the E&I packages on one of Australia’s largest resource projects and to create employment opportunities within Australia”.
