Kiln System Upgrade Cecil Park Factory
Cecil Park, NSW
CSR Bricks and Roofing required a total kiln and kiln car handling system electrical, mechanical and automation upgrade for its Cecil Park Site. The main objective was to enable the systems to be able to run unattended 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
All site works, commissioning and handover of the system needed to be passed to production within a four-week shutdown window. This had to be achieved with a multi-disciplined team of selected sub-contractors, which included: Itech Corporation, for electrical engineering design and installation; JC Smale, which performed the manufacture of the new haulage line and kiln car; and Plant Weave, for the Siemens S7 and iFix SCADA system software.
As part of the overall project, there were three R&D programs undertaken, pre-kill fall detection, kiln car tracking system, and kiln brick fall detection, all of which were successfully completed through concept, research, development, engineering and implementation into production on time.
