Control and safety leads Oil & Gas expo

Get ready for the Australasian Oil and Gas exhibition (AOG) 2009 in February in Perth, which promises to showcase some of the best in process and control technology, including a whole suite of process solutions from Rockwell Automation.

The expo will be held from 17th to 19th February at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre.

Rockwell Automation is geared-up to showcase an “extensive suite” of process control and safety solutions, including SIL3-rated critical-control and safety solutions from ICS Triplex, which was recently acquired by Rockwell Automation.

Also on show from the automation giant will be components from Endress+Hauser’s instrumentation range — the instrumentation provider is one of Rockwell Automation’s product partners.

One of these — the Rockwell Automation/ICS Triplex solution-set — maximises the availability and reliability of a variety of critical-control applications, including ESD, F&G detection, BMS and TMC systems, according to Rockwell Automation.

According to Rockwell Automation Australasian industry manager, Prasad Nory, the expo is important as it showcases a unique breed of control solutions designed especially for the oil and gas industry.

“Accuracy and dependability are crucial. To meet demanding oil and gas control applications, Rockwell Automation’s Logix multi-disciplinary control platform boasts high-speed processing, tight integration between programming software, controller and I/O, and a wide range of communications options,” he said.

The Logix multi-disciplinary control platform is the technology behind Rockwell Automation’s Integrated Architecture, which includes the FactoryTalk production management and performance software suite designed to simplify data collection and integration with higher-level information systems.

This unified approach — utilising a globally distributed database — is designed to enable plant-wide control with the maximum use of information.
