Champion no longer compressed at new HQ

Champion Compressors relocates its headquarters to Melbourne’s south-eastern suburb of Dandenong, consolidating its manufacturing, sales and technical support centres into a single facility.

The move to new headquarters will see the compressed-air specialist double its manufacturing capacity, increase its sales and technical support office space three-fold, as well as quadrupling its loading and parking facilities.

According to Champion Compressors managing director, Wayne St Baker, establishing and maintaining an industry-leading position, requires local manufactures to differentiate and add value where importers cannot. “Advanced manufacturing facilities go some way to realising manufacturing success–both for local and export markets,” he said. “The extra capacity provided by our new facility enables us to provide our comprehensive range of standard and customised compressed air solutions in the shortest lead-times.

“Unlike our competitors, nearly 70 per cent of our business is in providing engineered compressed air solutions, tailored to customer specifications for applications here in Australia and overseas. This capability is a rare attribute in the Australian air compressor sector.”

Champion’s move to its new headquarters will be progressive across the second half of 2008. The sales and technical support office will move first, with the manufacturing facility scheduled to come online by the end of the year. “The expansion will allow us to embark on the design and manufacture of a new range of compressed air products, scheduled for release throughout 2009,” said St Baker. “It also provides us with the opportunity to expand our research and development operation and build on our already comprehensive engineered products division.”

The new address is 324 to 332 Frankston Road, Dandenong. Telephone contact details will remain the same.
