Now more than ever before, employers and employees working in the instrumentation, automation and control industries will find it beneficial to be a part of an industry body that looks after the interests of its members.
The Institute of Instrumentation Control and Automation (IICA) has just announced two initiatives designed to make it even easier to join our association – both options of which come complete with some worthwhile functions designed to add value in Australia’s current difficult business climate.
IICA tunes the students
Student members enrolled in instrumentation and control courses are now able to apply for free student membership at the IICA, and in doing so they have the opportunity to enjoy the many benefits that go with being a student member, all designed to further future carreer opportunities for students.
This free IICA membership is available to full-time students and represents an ideal opportunity for young or inexperienced members of the industry to become involved in the sector and to network with like-minded individuals.
These networking opportunities could open doors to future career paths or provide students with valuable career advice from people who are experienced in the industry.
Given today’s highly-competitive working environment, joining a professional association gives both students and experienced workers valuable access to industry professionals and future employers or employees for advice.
We also see membership of the IICA as an indication to potential employers of a student’s commitment to a career in instrumentation, control or automation. An application form can be downloaded from the below website, at right.
Corporate associates offer
The IICA also holds a Corporate Associates Program (CAP) which is designed to provide a unique opportunity for companies to access the wide range of resources and benefits offered by IICA.
Benefits include: free listing on the IICA website with a ‘hot link’ to your site; free memberships for the IICA (number of free memberships is dependant on company size); three additional nominees to receive all publications; first option on a range of sponsorship opportunities at ICEX and monthly division activities, including distribution of literature to attendees; discounted participation at IICA Table Tops & Symposia; first option to provide technical speakers for the Institute’s technical meetings; networking opportunities and a forum for industry competitors to work together; and the ability to nominate multiple voting members (dependent on the level of participation) to the Institute.
CAP Membership starts at $340 for Level 1 Membership and a CAP application can be found at our website on: www.iica.org.au/info/cap, or by calling the Federal Office on 03 9772 0944.
