Baxter invests in carbon-friendly lighting

Victorian pharmaceutical manufacturer Baxter Laboratories will invest in new equipment that will reduce carbon emissions intensity at its Boronia facility by 11 per cent.

The equipment purchase will be funded by the Clean Technology Investment Program. The program provides grants for investments in energy efficient equipment and low emission technologies, processes and products.

Baxter received a $33,250 grant from the program.

“This grant shows how even a relatively simple upgrade of equipment can reduce both carbon emissions and energy costs,” said Greg Combet, Minister for Climate Change, Industry and Innovation.

Baxter Laboratories manufactures skin care, sunscreen and topical pharmaceutical products.

The grant will go to replacing existing, less efficient, high bay lights at the facility with new sky bay lighting.
