Australia’s chief scientist, Professor Ian Chubb, will be the first on National Manufacturing Week’s line-up of expert speakers.
Held during May 13 – 16 at Sydney Showground this year, NMW attracted 11,223 trade visitors in 2013 and will coincide with Manufacturer’s Monthly’s annual Endeavour Awards.
Chubb, who advises the prime minister, will be the first on NMW’s speaker program, presenting at the R&D hub.
“In order to succeed in a changing world, industry needs information, ideas and access to a range of technical and other resources,” explained exhibition director Anthony Reed.
“NMW will fill this need: with free access to high-level information and ideas from industry leaders and then, on the broader exhibition floor, a showcase of the solutions that help bring good ideas to life."
There will be six new product zones for 2014 at NMW will include an additive manufacturing sector.
“As Professor Chubb says, there is no magic pudding that is going to transform Australia into the place we want it to be – but NMW aims to provide some of the ingredients for success, by giving industry both the ideas and the technical facilities to stretch their capabilities," said Reed.
